CRIS is a high performance, multi-user, multi tasking system.
The latest Windows based CRIS Radiology Information System, utilises up-to-the-minute JAVA technology, combined with the powerful integration and functionality associated with our leading CRIS Application.
A key design goal was to allow the system to offer extremely high levels of security, interoperability, robustness and networking capabilities. CRIS has been designed to run on all leading platforms including Windows 98/2000/ME/XP, Windows NT4, UNIX file servers and Novell NetWare.
The latest system is a result of more than 20 years development, and has been designed in close collaboration with our existing customers, with great emphasis having been placed on speed and ease of use. CRIS is capable of handling all of the day to day tasks of a busy Radiology Department, as well as providing comprehensive management tools for long term planning.
The system has a user-friendly interface, complete with context sensitive help, hover help, pop-up lists and concise prompts to guide the user through any operation. As much information as possible is defaulted by the system to minimise keyboard entry, and other areas of the system can be driven by the use of bar code scanners, mice and hot keys.
The Open system offers ODBC, SQL and allows connectivity to Microsoft Excel/Access and comprehensive Windows report writers.
CRIS can be integrated to any PAS (Patient Administration System) and Case Mix systems as well as Order Communications, CR/PACS (Picture Archiving Communications Systems) and the National Data Spine using built-in DICOM, HL7 and XML interface engines. In addition CRIS can also provide a seamless interface for GP Links, Digital Dictation, Speech/Voice recognition and Request Card Digitisation systems.
The CRIS solution can be implemented on a variety of hardware platforms.
We are currently recommending IBM pSeries servers running AIX UNIX operating systems, used in conjunction with PC (Windows 98/2000/ME/XP/NT4 etc.), MAC or Citrix workstations. Although the CRIS system can also be implemented on any platform which supports JRE 1.3+ (Java runtime environment 1.3+).
The required configuration is entirely at the Trust's discretion, although a mix of platforms is sometimes favoured as it offers maximum flexibility in terms of utilisation of existing peripherals.
At HSS we recognise that each Hospital is unique and because of the modular design of the system, it is possible to make many Trust specific changes prior to installation.
Why choose CRIS?
Healthcare Software Systems are dedicated to the Healthcare market and have over 20 years NHS based experience.
CRIS has been designed to meet and in most cases exceed all information requirements within any busy Radiology Department.
CRIS is a proven cost-effective solution with minimal risk, minimal internal disruption and minimal internal Trust resource overhead.
CRIS is already fully operational at more than 150 hospitals nationwide, and has proven operational capability in multi-site configuration.
CRIS is successfully used in units with 15,000 attendances per year up to larger systems with in excess of 450,000 attendances each year.
CRIS is a scaleable and fully upgradeable solution on industry standard hardware platforms.
CRIS incorporates the ability to mix PC's, MAC's and Citrix Terminals, offering the flexibility of PC's (multi-tasking, multiple modules etc.) with the low cost ownership of Citrix terminals.
CRIS has been enhanced to utilise new technology for film (bags) and patient tracking with optional use of bar-code (CCD or laser), flatbed scanners and portable remote data capture units, which can also reduce the investment in technology.
CRIS incorporates many exciting developments designed to enhance departmental productivity such as CRIS.iScan - Request Card Digitisation, CRIS.iSpeech - Continuous and Distinct Speech/Voice Recognition, CRIS.iDictate - Digital Dictation, CRIS.iButton Technology - Electronic Security Keys.
CRIS can also be implemented with CRIS.iDICOM - direct DICOM Modality Worklists and or, CRIS.iStation - PACS Desktop Integration in conjunction with most market leading PACS suppliers thereby facilitating one seamless RIS/PACS/Dictation Clinician Workstation.
Integrated DICOM imaging facilities are also available in conjunction with Pukka-j medical imaging, to provide the benefits of a fully functional, cost effective mini-PACS solution embedded directly into the leading CRIS application
CRIS ensures a consistent and standard user interface across all workstations with full open system compliance and Internet/Intranet access to provide browser access for requests/results on the Wards.
GP results can be dispatched via xPages - XML Radiology Results, EDIFACT, ANGLIA, INDIGO4, E-mail, and Auto-Fax as appropriate.
Comprehensive and improved management information is produced as a by-product of standard system operation. Standard relational database structures support access via external reporting tools, SQL and export of data in industry standard formats.
HSS were the first RIS supplier in the UK to implement a successful PACS interface and guarantee essential experience of integration between leading PACS vendors via DICOM, HL7, XML and vendor specific protocols - in addition to enabling full PACS Desktop Integration with GE, Siemens, Philips, Kodak, Rogan/Xograph, Merge:eFilm and Agfa.
CRIS is at the heart of the filmless hospital, enabling reliable and efficient integration between HIS/PAS, PACS, CR, Order Communications and the transition to a full EPR/EHR, in line with the National Programme for IT (NPfIT)- NHS Care Record Service.
